MK Yaron Levy Joins Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu Party

Member of Knesset Yaron Levy announced on Monday that he is joining the Yisrael Beytenu party, led by Avigdor Liberman. Levy had previously declared he would leave Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid party at the end of the current Knesset term. He will lead Yisrael Beytenu's efforts in the areas of national resilience and mental health, a field he has focused on during his tenure in the Knesset. According to Yisrael Beytenu, a comprehensive plan is being developed under Levy's leadership to allocate resources and expand community services in these areas.

Liberman welcomed Levy, stating, "Yaron brings with him experience, commitment, and proven action in the field of mental health and national resilience, an area that has become one of the central challenges for the State of Israel." Levy previously served as deputy mayor of Bat Yam and entered the Knesset in August 2023 following the resignation of Orna Barbivai. His work in the Knesset has included advocating for the mental health of soldiers, making his new role a natural continuation of his efforts.

Levy expressed his gratitude to Liberman for prioritizing mental health and national resilience. "During my tenure as a Member of Knesset, I advanced this important issue, and I am happy to continue working for the public and promoting a real response to one of the central challenges of Israeli society," Levy stated.

Levy's move follows a series of departures from Yesh Atid, with several prominent members announcing they will not seek re-election or have left the party. These include Meir Cohen, Miki Levi, Ron Katz, Eleazar Stern, and Karin Elharrar. Some, like Miki Levi, are still involved in party functions.
