Comedian Hadar Levi Falls Victim to Phishing Scam Posing as Toll Road Debt

Israeli comedian Hadar Levi recently fell victim to a phishing scam, despite the prevalence of such fraud. The scammer impersonated the Carmel Tunnels toll road authority, sending Levi a text message claiming she had an outstanding debt and providing a link to pay. Believing the message, as she had outstanding bills, Levi entered her credit card and ID details into the provided link.

She only realized her mistake when she discussed the incident with her brother, who urged her to cancel her credit card. Levi humorously described the extent of the information she divulged, stating, "Besides two kidneys and an inheritance, I gave everything." The situation escalated when her phone number was ported without her consent, leading to alerts about attempted fraudulent activity on her accounts. Levi managed to block her accounts and credit cards and eventually regained control of her phone number.

TV personality Haim Etgar shared a video warning the public against clicking links in messages about debts or seizures. He advised that if a payment demand is received, individuals should contact the relevant company directly to verify the debt before providing any personal or financial information. This incident follows a similar scam reported in February, where singer Adar Gold was targeted with a fraudulent message claiming a debt to Highway 6, leading her to cancel credit cards and report an attempt to port her phone number.
