Jerusalem Light Rail Service Disrupted During Holiday Week

Significant disruptions are affecting Jerusalem's light rail service on Sunday due to damage to an electrical cable near Gan HaMatzles. The malfunction impacts the Red Line (L1), which connects Neve Yaakov to Hadassah Ein Kerem. As a result, train movement has been temporarily halted in the southwestern section of the line. Service is currently operating only between the Neve Yaakov North and Kikar Dania stations.

Maintenance crews are working at the site of the damage in an effort to restore full service. Alternative bus routes are available for passengers needing to reach Hadassah Ein Kerem, including lines 27 and 27A, which go directly to the hospital. Other lines such as 33, 35, 16, 91, and 505 can be used to reach the Yefe Nof, Har Herzl, and Gan HaMatzles areas.

From the Central Bus Station, passengers can travel to the western part of the city using lines 27, 27A, and 39. For travel from Hadassah Ein Kerem towards the city center, passengers can utilize lines 27 and 19, along with other routes departing from the Har Herzl, Yefe Nof, and Gan HaMatzles areas.

No precise timeline has been given for the full restoration of the light rail service. Operations are expected to resume after the damaged cable has been repaired.
