Tirat Carmel Celebrates Annual 'Israeli Olive' Festival

The city of Tirat Carmel held its annual "Israeli Olive" festival on Monday, September 28, 2026, as part of the Sukkot holiday celebrations. The event featured a community olive harvest and a family-friendly fair.

In the morning, residents participated in a community olive harvest at various locations across the city, led by "Olive Ambassadors." Participants learned about the harvesting process and the journey from olive to oil. Following the harvest, an open-air fair took place at Gan HaToteh, offering stalls, craft corners, quizzes, an olive pressing workshop, and other activities for children and families.

The festival highlights the olive tree, which is featured on Tirat Carmel's city emblem, aiming to strengthen the connection between the civic symbol, nature, and the community. City officials noted that the event is becoming a local tradition they intend to continue in the coming years.

Mayor Dudu Cohen stated, "The olive tree is an integral part of Tirat Carmel's emblem and story. The festival gives residents an opportunity to connect with this symbol through community, family, and enjoyable activity. We want to see the 'Israeli Olive' festival continue to grow and become an annual city tradition."

Dor Elkalai, Director of the Culture Department, added, "The idea is to create a local tradition connected to Tirat Carmel and its story. Seeing families go out together for the harvest, participate in workshops, and enjoy a fair centered around the olive is exactly the connection we wanted to create. We will continue to develop the festival and add content in the coming years."

The olives collected during the harvest will be used to produce olive oil, and participants will later receive small bottles of oil made from the day's harvest.
