Defense Minister Katz Participates in Priestly Blessing at Western Wall
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant participated in the traditional Priestly Blessing ceremony held at the Western Wall Plaza in Jerusalem on Sunday. During the event, he recited the "Mi Sheberach" prayer for the welfare and safety of IDF soldiers and security forces.
Gallant, who is also a Kohen (a descendant of the priestly caste), expressed his emotion at being able to lead the prayer for the Jewish people. The ceremony, which takes place twice a year during the intermediate days of Passover and Sukkot, draws thousands of participants.
The Priestly Blessing involves Kohanim reciting the biblical priestly blessing found in the Book of Numbers, Chapter 6, verses 24-26, over the assembled crowd. This year's event occurred amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
