Hidden Gem: 'Ein Ziv' Water Source Discovered in Southern Hebron Hills

A remarkable natural water source, known by the names 'Jahir Yakin' and 'Ein Ziv,' has been uncovered near the road in the southern Hebron Hills, specifically in the Yatir region. Described as one of the most wonderful water sources encountered, it is hidden behind a large rock face and features three benches. Access is via a sturdy iron ladder descending into a spacious chamber filled with crystal-clear water, so transparent that the bottom stones are visible.

The underground pool measures approximately 15 meters long and 4 meters wide, with the water level currently at about 1.2 meters deep. It is believed to be linked to a settlement that existed in the area during the Second Temple period. The name 'Hakin' is mentioned in the Book of Joshua as one of the cities of Judah, alongside known locations like Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, suggesting this site may be the ancient Hakin from which ancestors drew water.
