Journalist Ben Caspit and Minister Amichai Chikli Clash Over Political Flip-Flopping

A heated exchange erupted on social media platform X between Israeli journalist Ben Caspit and Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli, centering on accusations of political inconsistency. The dispute began when Chikli accused Caspit of lying to his audience on Channel 12 news and in his Maariv newspaper column, specifically regarding Chikli's alleged support for Mansour Abbas and the Ra'am party.

Chikli explained that while he initially believed internal agreements could be reached with Abbas following his visit to Lod during the "Guardian of the Walls" operation, he reversed his stance after revelations about the Hamas ties of the "48 Association" and Abbas's conduct. He asserted that he never supported Abbas becoming a minister.

Caspit, however, dismissed Chikli's explanation, launching a sharp personal attack. He referenced a deleted tweet where Chikli had expressed strong support for Naftali Bennett forming a government, implying Chikli had "flipped like a steak" for a "fictitious position in the massacre government." Caspit stated that Chikli's past actions and alleged inconsistencies were well-known.

This is not the first time Caspit has displayed public frustration. Previously, during an interview on Channel 12's "Meet the Press," hosted by Caspit and Amit Segal, Caspit lost his temper with interviewee Eli Goldshmidt. When Goldshmidt defended a figure Caspit strongly criticized, Caspit shouted that the individual "almost destroyed us," accusing him of nurturing Hamas, releasing Sinwar and other terrorists, allowing Qatari funding, and failing to act for 15 years.
