Journalist Ben Caspit Accuses Netanyahu of Fake Right-Wing Stance, Spreading Fake News
Journalist Ben Caspit launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his weekly column for the newspaper 'Maariv,' criticizing attempts by Netanyahu's circle to target Knesset Member Gadi Eisenkot. Caspit claimed that Netanyahu's "poison machine experienced an unexpected malfunction" because they could not find incriminating material on Eisenkot. He accused Netanyahu of spreading disinformation, stating, "Just as he is the father of the concept and appeasement of Hamas, so is he the father of the fake news method and political assassinations."
Caspit questioned Netanyahu's identity and leadership, writing, "He knows that Bennett is a true right-winger, not a fake like him." He added that "Netanyahu does not like dry facts, especially when they are inconvenient for him. He immediately tries to drown them in lies."
Furthermore, Caspit sharply criticized Netanyahu's security performance over the years, asserting, "Your whole life you have been a warmonger of escape. If you were eager for battle, October 7th would not have happened." Caspit also addressed the war's objectives in the initial days following the October 7th attack, accusing the Prime Minister of abandoning the hostages, "The Prime Minister ignored the issue of the hostages as if they were citizens of South Sudan, and not citizens of his country who trusted him." According to Caspit, Netanyahu operates with "a legendary amount of cynicism that allows him to spread even the most ridiculous lies without blinking."
The discussion about political responsibility for the policy towards Hamas and Qatari funding has been a focal point of numerous media confrontations. During a broadcast on Radio 103FM, Caspit proposed a proportional division of responsibility based on years in office, suggesting, "Let's assume everything Levinson says is correct, Netanyahu was prime minister for 19 years and Bennett for one year... Therefore, I am willing to say that Bennett has 5% which is one year out of 20 and Netanyahu has the remaining 19 years, are you willing to sign on to that?"
