Ben Caspit Explodes at Politician Eli Goldschmidt Over Netanyahu Support

A heated exchange erupted on Israeli television when journalist Ben Caspit confronted politician Eli Goldschmidt, who recently announced his endorsement of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his placement on the Likud party's list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Goldschmidt, a former politician who previously criticized Netanyahu, stated his shift in perspective following the October 7th Hamas attacks, advocating for a party called "Israel Wakes Up" that opposes a Palestinian state and supports Netanyahu.

During an interview on Channel 12's "Meet the Press," hosted by Caspit and Amit Segal, Goldschmidt defended Netanyahu, calling him "the Iron Dome of the Western world" and claiming he "saved us from destruction." Caspit, visibly angered, accused Netanyahu of "almost destroying us," citing his role in the rise of Hamas, the release of Yahya Sinwar, the freeing of 1,027 murderers, and the facilitation of Qatari funding, while asserting Netanyahu did "nothing" for 15 years and avoided security rounds.

Goldschmidt retorted, calling Caspit "hysterical" and accusing him of "making a living for 30 years from Bibi hatred." Caspit expressed disappointment in Goldschmidt's support for Netanyahu, stating all his warnings about the Prime Minister had come true, exceeding even his worst fears, and questioned how Goldschmidt could be shameless after the October 7th events.

Despite attempts by co-host Amit Segal to de-escalate, Caspit continued his tirade, emphasizing his past writings urging the downfall of Hamas and his pleas against the Gilad Shalit deal and Sinwar's release. He declared himself not responsible for any of these events and unable to listen to the "lies."

Journalist Yoav Yitzhak commented on the interview via X, calling Caspit a "liar" and a "consciousness engineer with experience," suggesting Goldschmidt's mistake was expecting fairness from him.
