Netanyahu's Son Accused of Spreading False Information About October 7

Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been criticized for resharing a post on social media that falsely claimed to show Palestinian children in Gaza mistreating an Israeli hostage.

The post, originally shared by Eyal Yaacobi, depicted a young boy in Gaza being teased by other children, with the caption stating, "This is how Palestinian children in Gaza treated a young Israeli held hostage by Hamas." However, the boy in the video is not Israeli but an Arab child from Gaza.

Journalist Noa Megid, who has been documenting atrocities from the October 7th attacks, clarified that the video shows an Arab child playing a game of "hostages" with friends and calling out "Mom, Mom" in Hebrew while his friends mock him for his mother's identity. Megid noted that the original video was removed from TikTok and urged against spreading misinformation, despite understanding the good intentions behind sharing such content.

Critics have accused Yair Netanyahu of causing significant damage to Israel by disseminating fake news. This incident follows other instances where Netanyahu has shared posts critical of figures like Gadi Eisenkot and supportive of his father.
