Defense Minister Israel Katz informed northern municipal leaders today that nine additional communities have been officially recognized as front line border communities, following a government decision. The designation expands the official list of places entitled to full state support, including dedicated funding, benefits, and special assistance for areas affected by fighting.
The newly recognized communities are Sde Eliyahu, Kasa-Samie, Yesud HaMa'ala, Or HaGanuz, Miron, Bar Yohai, Safsufa, also known as Kfar Hoshan, Beit Jann, and Hulata. The move is intended to provide legal, security, and economic support to residents and businesses in these areas, which have been dealing with the prolonged consequences of the war in the northern sector.
Katz told the local leaders that the decision was “important and just,” saying it gives residents the recognition they deserve and the rights that come with their new status. He praised the steadfastness of northern residents who have been on the front line for an extended period, and said their resilience gives soldiers strength to continue their defense mission.
He added that the experience of recent years shows that strong settlement is a major security asset. Katz said that under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the government will continue working for northern residents and ensure they receive all the support they are due.
