Nine More Northern Communities to Be Recognized as Border Zone Areas
Defense Minister Israel Katz said the government will formally recognize nine additional communities in northern Israel as part of the conflict line, or border zone. The designation gives the communities eligibility for the benefits and support packages reserved for such localities.
The newly recognized places are Sde Eliezer, Kisra-Sumei, Yesod Hamaala, Or HaGanuz, Meron, Bar Yochai, Safsufa, also known as Kfar Hosen, Beit Jann and Hula.
Katz did not give a timetable for when the formal recognition would take effect, but said the move expands the official list of northern communities entitled to special aid and relief measures.
