Hamas Offers to Mediate Yemen Conflict, Cites US Talks

Hamas political bureau chief Khalil al-Hayya announced that the organization has proposed to mediate between parties involved in the Yemen conflict. He stated that contacts are underway with several countries to advance this initiative. In an interview with Al-Araby TV, al-Hayya urged Arab and Muslim nations to resolve disputes through dialogue, emphasizing Hamas's aim to maintain balanced regional relations without internal interference.

Al-Hayya also revealed that he has met with American representatives more than four times over the past two years. These discussions reportedly covered the situation in Gaza, Hamas's demands, and commitments made by various parties during conflicts. While viewing these talks positively, al-Hayya called for concrete U.S. actions to compel Israel to adhere to its alleged commitments.

Regarding Gaza, he reiterated Hamas's willingness to discuss implementing a roadmap developed through months of negotiations with mediators. This roadmap is expected to address issues such as weaponry, Palestinian governance, potential international forces, Israeli withdrawal, and security arrangements. Al-Hayya also proposed a direct meeting with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to create a joint political program and confirmed Hamas's preparation for future Palestinian elections, including forming an electoral alliance.

The Hamas proposal comes amid ongoing regional tensions related to the Yemen conflict and Houthi involvement. At this stage, the offer is a declared initiative by Hamas leadership, with no indication of acceptance by the Yemeni parties.
