Hamas Leader Claims Repeated Meetings, Understanding from US Officials

The head of Hamas's political bureau, Khalil al-Hayya, stated in an interview with Al-Arabi TV that he has met with American representatives on multiple occasions. Al-Hayya claimed he conveyed Hamas's demands to these officials and felt they understood the group's position. He also expressed belief that it was necessary to prevent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from speaking at the UN General Assembly session, while allowing Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas to attend in New York.

According to al-Hayya, the region is on the verge of an explosion, and achieving stability hinges on securing the interests of the Palestinian people. He accused the Israeli government of planning to expel Palestinians, asserting that Hamas would thwart these "transfer plans."

Al-Hayya blamed "occupiers" for the lack of progress on an agreement, mentioning that Nikolay Mladenov is doing his best. He stated that Hamas agreed to a roadmap proposed by the "Peace Council" and is ready to fulfill its conditions, urging the international community to compel Israel to implement it. The Hamas leader also emphasized that elections should be held across all Palestinian territories, including the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem.
