Renowned Kabbalist Rabbi David Batsri Passes Away on Sukkot
Rabbi David Batsri, a prominent Kabbalist and head of the 'HaShalom' yeshiva, passed away suddenly on the eve of the Sukkot holiday. Despite his advanced age and frailty, Rabbi Batsri was able to receive the "Four Species" (etrog, lulav, myrtle, and willow) for Sukkot just a day before his passing, expressing great joy in fulfilling the mitzvah. He also celebrated the completion of his sukkah, dancing and thanking God.
Recent footage has emerged showing Rabbi Batsri participating in the final "Selichot" (penitential prayers) services on the eve of Yom Kippur. In the video, he is seen wearing white garments, a traditional practice for the High Holidays. These prayers took place at the "Beit Yosef" community in Givatayim, led by Rabbi Shlomo Batsri, with the late Kabbalist in attendance.
The event was attended by Rabbi Batsri's sons, Rabbi Shlomo Batsri, rabbi of the central "Beit Yosef" synagogue in Givatayim, and Rabbi Mordechai Batsri, rabbi of the "Eliyahu Hanavi" synagogue in Tel Aviv. Also present were Carmel Shama, the mayor of Ramat Gan, and a large congregation. The service concluded with a moving ceremony where attendees accepted the "Yoke of Heaven."
