Late Rabbi's Humorous Last Wishes for Funeral Fulfilled

The final wishes of Rabbi Duki Greenwald, a beloved community activist known for his humor, were fulfilled following his passing after a period of suffering. Shortly after news of his death, a video circulated online showing Greenwald humorously announcing his own demise and requesting that attendees come to his funeral in Shabbat attire, celebrate with joy, and bring cans of soda.

His humorous request was honored. Greenwald's funeral was held on the evening of the first day of Sukkot, with mourners dressed in their Shabbat best. Friends of Greenwald took the initiative to bring drinks and soda cans for the attendees during the procession.

Due to the sanctity of the holiday, no eulogies were delivered. The only words of farewell came from his father-in-law, Rabbi Chaim Menachem Kremer, a prominent figure in the Breslov Hasidic movement. During the procession, Greenwald's son, Avigdor, tearfully asked his father for forgiveness, recalling a promise his father made to attend his upcoming wedding and expressing faith that his father would now watch over him from above.
