TV Host Eden Harel Expresses Mixed Feelings Over Son's Combat Service

Israeli media personality Eden Harel has openly shared her anxieties and longing for her son since his enlistment in the IDF. She frequently updates her followers on her emotions as the mother of a combat soldier. Just last month, Harel posted a video from the Western Wall, directing attention to a personal prayer for her son and inviting the public to join. Her latest Instagram Q&A session on Saturday escalated these shared feelings.

When asked if her son was serving in a combat role, Harel responded candidly, "Yes, it varies between wanting to break his leg so he stays home and stops doing foolish things, and at the same breath, proud... proud of the privilege of having a son who guards the people of Israel." She expressed pride in her son's service while acknowledging the intense longing she experiences, particularly on Shabbat.

Harel previously described her mixed emotions, noting the absence of her son, Uriah, during family gatherings. She stated, "I know this is how combat soldiers are. I am immensely proud of him, of course. But there are longings that defy logic." She finds it easier to suppress the feeling of his absence during the week, but the longing becomes more pronounced when the family convenes on Saturdays.
