Guy Moroz, a panelist on the Israeli TV program “The Patriots,” installed a mezuzah on the door of his new home for the first time in his life. The ceremony, filmed and shared online, quickly went viral and drew thousands of reactions.
During the blessing, Moroz improvised a head covering with a bicycle helmet, a detail that helped make the clip especially shareable. He joked, “This is the only kippah I found, there wasn’t one to buy,” and added, “I’m surprised by myself.”
The ritual was accompanied by journalist Yaki Adamker, who helped Moroz with the traditional blessings. In the video, Moroz is seen reciting the mezuzah blessing and then the Shehecheyanu blessing. He also revealed that this was the first time he had ever placed a mezuzah in his own home.
Moroz explained that he had never needed to do so before because he had not previously lived in a new apartment that required it. The response online was largely warm and supportive, with many users praising his sincerity and describing the moment as moving and inspiring, while others made light jokes about the helmet and the lack of a kippah.
