Family Demands Shin Bet Lead Investigation Into Missing Girl's Disappearance

The family of Haimnot Kassao, who has been missing for nearly three years, has erected a sukkah outside the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem to protest the lack of progress in her case and demand the Shin Bet security agency take full control of the investigation. Haimnot disappeared on February 25, 2024, at the age of nine. Her family has moved their sukkah from their hometown of Safed to the capital to draw the attention of decision-makers.

"After two years and nine months, almost three years, our fears are that Haimnot will also miss her bat mitzvah," a family member stated, expressing frustration over the prolonged uncertainty and lack of leads. The family is convinced Haimnot was abducted and insists the Shin Bet, with its resources and capabilities, should lead the investigation rather than merely assist the police. They are appealing directly to the Prime Minister to order Shin Bet Director David Zini to fully engage with the case.

The family also expressed disappointment with the investigation's progress, even after its transfer to the Lahav 433 special crimes unit. They feel uninformed about the investigation's status and criticize the lack of communication from authorities. "Almost a thousand days. It is very sad that to this day there is no thread," a relative said, highlighting the family's helplessness.

To amplify their public campaign, the family is calling on citizens to join their protest, support them, and pray for Haimnot's safe return. "Come help us, don't leave us alone. Come, pray for Haimnot," a relative pleaded. Despite the passage of time, the family remains hopeful that Haimnot is alive and will return home.
