Family of Missing Girl Haimenot Kasao Urges Shin Bet to Take Over Investigation

Benji and Tespia Kasao, parents of the missing girl Haimenot Kasao, formally requested the head of the Shin Bet, David Zini, to transfer the investigation of their daughter's disappearance to the security service. Their letter, sent on the 911th day since Haimenot vanished, asks for a personal meeting to detail their concerns about the police handling of the case. The parents expressed deep frustration and sorrow over the lack of progress and information, stating that despite 911 days passing, the police have no leads or theories about what happened after she was abducted from a reception center on the evening of February 25, 2024.

The Kasao family has criticized the police investigation for over two and a half years, noting no response from the police commissioner, the Lahav 433 unit, or the Northern District police. They referenced recent Shin Bet involvement in other disappearance cases and praised the agency's successes, contrasting it with what they see as ongoing mistakes in their own case. The parents emphasized their hope that Shin Bet's direct intervention could bring new momentum to the investigation and requested an urgent face-to-face meeting to present the investigation's developments so far.

This formal appeal follows an earlier request about ten days prior for Shin Bet's involvement, reflecting the family's growing desperation and desire for a more effective inquiry into Haimenot's disappearance.
