Settlers Attack Palestinian Village East of Ramallah, Burn Vehicles

Palestinians reported clashes and settler attacks early Sunday morning in the village of Abu Falah, east of Ramallah. According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, vehicles were set ablaze and fireworks were used during the confrontations. The Israeli Police confirmed receiving a report of suspected vehicle arson in the village and that an investigation has been opened in the Judea and Samaria district. Mustafa Zaatar, owner of one of the burned vehicles, stated that prior clashes occurred between village youths and settlers in a nearby hilly area. He described dozens of settlers arriving from various directions, setting fire to cars by pouring flammable materials inside, and then fleeing after village youths confronted them. Another resident, Samir Shuman, told Ynet that villagers have been preparing for potential attacks, with young men remaining vigilant due to expected settler incursions. Shuman claimed approximately four unauthorized outposts surround the village, and incidents in the area have increased recently. He also reported damage to property and agriculture, including the felling of 57 of his olive trees, and difficulty accessing some farmlands. The village council head was also attacked in one incident. Shuman noted a change in the reality post-October 7th, asserting that security forces often fail to protect residents even when present. The Abu Falah village council issued a statement thanking volunteer guards and urging residents and youth to cooperate with security organizers, especially ahead of the olive harvest season, emphasizing calm and organized conduct. The police stated their investigation is ongoing, with forensic teams collecting evidence at the scene, accompanied by IDF forces. No arrests have been made yet. Separately, on Wednesday night, riots occurred in the village of Atara, near Ramallah, where vehicles were burned and threatening messages, including calls for 'transfer,' were spray-painted on a building. These messages referenced recent attacks, including the deaths of Amichai Attia and Natanel Shkaron, and the severe injury of reservist Neria Leiter, son of Israel's ambassador to the US.
