Prison Guards Discover Improvised Weapon Hidden in Shower Handle

Prison guards at the Jerusalem detention center discovered a dangerous, improvised stabbing weapon concealed within the handle of a shower in a security detainee's cell during an unannounced search conducted over the Sukkot holiday. The sophisticated attempt to hide the weapon, described as a "dangerous spike," was intended to evade routine security checks.

According to the Israel Prison Service (IPS), the search was part of a routine operational activity by the unit. Upon finding the makeshift weapon, it was confiscated, and the detainee was brought before a disciplinary hearing for possessing a prohibited item within the facility.

The IPS emphasized that such proactive operations are part of an ongoing effort to locate forbidden items and maintain security and order within correctional facilities. This incident follows several other foiled attempts to smuggle or hide weapons in recent months, including a stabbing weapon found in a soda bottle at Shata Prison and drugs discovered sewn into clothing at Tzalamon Prison.
