Gabi Kanyukovsky Focused on Soccer, Not Distractions, Ahead of Ireland Match

Israeli national soccer team player Gabi Kanyukovsky stated that the team is not concerned with extraneous matters and is solely focused on their upcoming match against Ireland. Kanyukovsky, who rejoined Maccabi Tel Aviv this past summer and has been a key player in their strong start to the league season, is set to start for the national team on Sunday.

Speaking to Sport Channel, Kanyukovsky emphasized the importance of the game for the team's future. "We are not dealing with nonsense and are truly coming to play soccer and after Thursday to get a good result tomorrow. So we are entirely focused on the game," he said.

He also spoke about the significance of representing Israel, especially during challenging times. "I will always give my 100%, especially in the Israeli national team. You know it's more than a symbol, it's representing the people at home, the reservists, the soldiers at home, everyone who is watching, the people we have lost too. So we really have a responsibility and I think everyone knows what it means to be in the Israeli national team these days and I hope we succeed in doing that."

Addressing the physical nature of the Irish team, Kanyukovsky acknowledged their style of play but expressed confidence in Israel's ability to counter it with their own quality and preparation. "Yes, it's their game, long balls and that, but I think with the soccer and the quality we have it can work in our favor. We came prepared and know what we need to do, they prepared us well and God willing tomorrow we will do it."
