Gabi Kanikowski Focuses on Football Amidst National Team Noise

Israeli national team midfielder Gabi Kanikowski stated that the team is not concerned with external distractions, emphasizing their focus on the upcoming crucial match against Ireland. Kanikowski, who rejoined Maccabi Tel Aviv this past summer and has been a key player in their strong start to the league season, is set to start for the national team on Sunday.

Speaking to Sport Channel, Kanikowski expressed his pleasure at returning to the national team, especially for important games. He stressed that the players are concentrating solely on the football match and achieving a positive result, putting aside any political matters. "We are not dealing with nonsense and are truly coming to play football," he said.

Kanikowski highlighted the significance of representing Israel, particularly during these times. He mentioned the responsibility felt towards the public, including reservists and soldiers, and those who have been lost. "There is a responsibility, and I think everyone knows what it means to be in the Israeli national team these days," he added.

Addressing the physicality of the Irish team, Kanikowski acknowledged their style of play, characterized by long balls. However, he expressed confidence in Israel's footballing quality and preparation, believing it can be an advantage. "We came prepared and know what we need to do, we were prepared well, and God willing, tomorrow we will do it," he concluded.
