Elderly Man Attacked in Afula After Asking Sanitation Worker to Move Trash Bins

An 78-year-old man was hospitalized with facial injuries after being assaulted by a sanitation worker in the city of Afula last Wednesday. The incident began when the elderly man asked the worker to move trash bins that were blocking his car, as he intended to leave for prayers at a synagogue. Shortly after the request, the sanitation worker allegedly attacked the man, causing him significant facial injuries. Police were called to the scene and subsequently arrested the suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Afula. The suspect was brought before the Magistrate's Court in Nazareth, where his detention was extended until the following day. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. A spokesperson for the Northern District Police stated that officers are actively combating crime and will continue to pursue legal action against lawbreakers to maintain public order and resident safety.
