Man Stabbed Multiple Times En Route to Prayers in Afula

A 66-year-old resident of Afula was seriously injured after being stabbed multiple times on his way to morning prayers and Selichot services at a local synagogue. The incident occurred last Tuesday morning when police received a report of a man stabbed while heading to the synagogue. He was evacuated to HaEmek Medical Center in serious condition.

Northern District police forces and forensic investigators arrived at the scene, collected evidence, and launched an investigation to identify the suspect and determine the circumstances of the attack. Initially, the motive for the incident was unclear.

Two days later, on Thursday, police arrested a 39-year-old Afula resident suspected of carrying out the stabbing. His detention has been extended until this coming Friday. Police stated that the background to the incident is criminal and that they are committed to combating offenders who threaten public safety.
