New Documentary "Paging Hezbollah" Features Netanyahu, Former Mossad Chief

A new documentary film titled "Paging Hezbollah" will offer a first look at Israel's "beeper bombing" operation against the Hezbollah terrorist organization. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Mossad chief Dedi Barnea are featured in the film, directed by Justin Pollack. The documentary, set to premiere in cinemas on October 30, explores how Israel infiltrated Hezbollah's sensitive and secret networks.

The film's teaser, released recently, includes Netanyahu describing the operation as "a handful of TNT that changed the world." Also appearing in the teaser are former CIA Director David Petraeus, who calls the operation a "modern Trojan horse," former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren, former U.S. intelligence official Matthew Levitt, former National Security Advisor Yaakov Nagel, and former senior Israeli intelligence official Sarit Zehavi.

Director Justin Pollack stated that the film provides an "inside" perspective from those directly involved, calling the operation "imaginary" and "more fascinating than one could imagine." He highlighted the rarity of gaining such access to a historical intelligence operation.

"Paging Hezbollah" details how Israel engineered devices to penetrate Hezbollah's communication network and supply chain, convincing operatives to adopt seemingly safe technology. The film emphasizes that the operation was the result of years of planning and deception, not a spontaneous attack. It follows the process of designing, marketing, and smuggling the devices before Hezbollah realized what had happened.
