Maccabi Haifa Amputee Team Wins Inaugural Conference League Title
Maccabi Haifa's amputee football team achieved a historic milestone by winning the first-ever Conference League Cup. The Israeli team secured the title with a decisive 4-0 victory over Scotland's AYR on Friday. Entering the final match needing only a draw, Maccabi Haifa delivered a dominant performance to conclude the tournament undefeated.
Ben Benyamin opened the scoring and quickly added a second goal. Aviran Ohana extended the lead to 3-0, and in stoppage time, Ben Maman sealed the 4-0 win with an assist from Yanir Cohen. The emotional victory brought coach Sharon Paz to tears at the final whistle.
The EAFF's inaugural Conference League tournament was hosted by Steaua Bucharest in Bucharest. The Maccabi Haifa team comprises players who are amputees due to injuries sustained during military service, survivors of the Nova music festival massacre, and victims of road accidents.
