Maccabi Haifa Honors Amputee Soccer Team Before Conference League Tournament

Maccabi Haifa will hold a special ceremony at Sammy Ofer Stadium to honor its amputee soccer team before they depart for the Conference League tournament in Bucharest. The team, comprised of players from the Israeli national amputee team, is set to compete against Celtic of Scotland, Panathinaikos of Greece, and Steaua Bucharest of Romania.

The project for the amputee team was established after the October 7th attacks. Sharon Paz serves as the team's coach. Among the notable players is Ben Benjamin, a former National League player who was injured while fleeing the Nova music festival massacre. Ben Maman, a promising player injured in a car accident, is also part of the squad, along with other key players like Aviran Ohana and goalkeeper Or Hershkowitz.

Prior to their flight, the players will be presented on the field before Maccabi Haifa's match against Hapoel Petah Tikva, wearing the uniforms they will use in the tournament. The stadium announcer will introduce each player to the crowd.
