IDF Soldiers Build Sukkot Booths Deep in Lebanon Amid Operations

In preparation for the Sukkot holiday, religious soldiers from the Hasmonean and Kfir brigades are constructing traditional Sukkot booths in various operational sectors, including some deep within Lebanon. These soldiers are working to uphold holiday traditions while actively engaged in their military duties near the front lines.

The Hasmonean Brigade, an all-ultra-Orthodox unit within the IDF, is ensuring its soldiers can observe the holiday's commandments despite challenging field conditions. The booths are being erected across the brigade's operational areas, blending holiday preparations with ongoing military missions against Hezbollah.

Soldiers from the Kfir Brigade are also building Sukkot in the field, with some units operating deep inside Lebanon. They are constructing the booths while continuing operational activities against Hezbollah, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining their religious lifestyle even during wartime.

The Hasmonean Brigade was established to allow young ultra-Orthodox men to serve in the military while adhering to their religious practices. Sergeant Major Moshe Baruch, head of the ultra-Orthodox recruitment department for the brigade, stated that the military aims to create an environment that provides comprehensive religious support for these recruits.

Preparations extend beyond building Sukkot to include gathering the Four Species (Lulav and Etrog) and other holiday necessities. The soldiers are determined to fulfill all holiday commandments while continuing their operational tasks in their respective sectors.
