The decision to move the match from Leuven, Belgium, was reportedly due to security reasons, according to Union Saint-Gilloise. The Belgian club stated that they were unable to host the game at their usual stadium in Leuven and sought a nearby venue that would allow for a crowd. However, they claimed this was not possible due to security concerns.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva expressed regret over the decision, noting that fans of both clubs would be unable to attend the match in person.
