Captivity survivor Yosef-Haim Ohana met with Argentine President Javier Milei and shared: “I was surprised to see a person in his position remain who he is.” According to him, given the large Jewish community in Argentina, one might assume that Milei’s support stems from political considerations. In a post he shared, he said the president “recites Torah, the weekly portion and the history of rabbis.”
Captivity survivor Yosef-Haim Ohana shared yesterday, Tuesday, his feelings after meeting Argentine President Javier Milei: “I was surprised to see how a person in a position like his stays true to who he really is. He is not only trying to look as good as possible, but is trying to do as much good as possible.”
According to him, given the large Jewish community in Argentina, one could assume that the president’s support for Jews stems from political considerations. However, he stressed that for votes, “just words” would be enough.
The captivity survivor noted that the proof that Milei truly wants to act and not just talk is the great importance he places on getting to know the Jewish people. “It is important to him to get to know and learn to the point that he recites Torah, the weekly portion and the history of rabbis,” he said, adding that beyond the president’s deep connection to the Jewish people, Milei shows great appreciation for history and heritage: “A wise man with an affinity for Judaism and, above all, a seeker of truth!”
