Netanyahu Meets Latin American Presidents Post-UN Speech

Following his address at the UN General Assembly in New York, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held meetings with Latin American leaders. He met overnight Friday with Argentinian President Javier Milei, and subsequently with the presidents of Paraguay, Panama, and Bolivia.

According to a statement from Netanyahu's office, the discussions focused on expanding Israel's ties with Latin American nations, particularly through the "Abraham Accords" initiative. During his one-on-one with Milei, Netanyahu thanked him for his support of Israel and congratulated him on receiving the "Lover of Israel" award from the Yeshiva Darchei Torah in New York. They also discussed deepening security and economic cooperation between Israel and other countries on the continent.

Netanyahu praised Milei's economic policies in Argentina and his stance on Israel, stating, "You stand for truth. This is why you support Israel, because we share this common heritage of justice and speaking for truth." Milei responded by calling Netanyahu "one of the greatest leaders in world history."

In subsequent meetings with the presidents of Paraguay, Panama, and Bolivia, Netanyahu expressed gratitude for their support of Israel's security and their backing on the international stage. He urged them to join the "Abraham Accords" initiative, which aims to enhance cooperation in economy, innovation, and security. Netanyahu also encouraged them to join a US-led initiative to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, which his office described as "corrupt."

Netanyahu highlighted the importance of these nations as partners in combating terror groups linked to Iran and its proxies, which his office stated have been active in Latin America.
