Netanyahu to Meet Argentine President Milei at UN General Assembly

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with Argentine President Javier Milei in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly. Netanyahu is in the city to deliver a speech at the assembly.

This upcoming meeting marks the second encounter between the two leaders. Their previous meeting occurred shortly before Israel's Independence Day, during which they signed several bilateral agreements across various sectors. At that prior event, Milei also had the honor of lighting an Independence Day torch.

During the torch-lighting ceremony, Milei expressed his gratitude to Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Netanyahu, referring to Netanyahu as his "dearest friend." He emphasized the strong bond between Argentina and Israel, stating, "In this life, there are partners and there are friends. Partners unite temporarily for utilitarian purposes, but friends forge unbreakable bonds for life, united by shared moral values. I have the joy of saying that Argentina and Israel are not just partners, they are sister nations."

Prior to the announcement of his meeting with Netanyahu, Milei visited the "Darchei Torah" yeshiva in Far Rockaway, New York. This visit, part of his ongoing engagement with the Jewish community, took place the day after Yom Kippur. During the event, he was presented with the "Lover of Israel Award" in recognition of his leadership and support for the Jewish people and the State of Israel. He was also seen celebrating and dancing with students to the song "Am Yisrael Chai."
