Netanyahu Meets Argentina's Milei, Discusses Strengthening Ties

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Argentinian President Javier Milei in New York on Thursday, following Netanyahu's address at the UN General Assembly. During the meeting, Netanyahu thanked Milei for his "unwavering and unreserved support" for Israel and congratulated him on receiving the "Lover of Israel" award from the D'rachei Torah yeshiva. The two leaders discussed enhancing economic and security cooperation between their nations, as well as Israel's "positive strategic change" in Latin America. They noted that this shift allows for the expansion of the "Abraham Accords" under Milei's leadership, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation across the continent.

Netanyahu praised Milei as "one of the great leaders of our generation," commending his economic reforms in Argentina. "You stand for truth. You don't care, you just speak the truth. That's why you support Israel because we share this common heritage of justice and speaking the truth, and there is no one who does it better than you," Netanyahu stated, drawing parallels to his own experience leading change.

Milei reciprocated the praise, calling Netanyahu "one of the greatest leaders in world history" and expressing his honor at hearing such words. The meeting also touched upon combating terrorist elements led by Iran and its proxies, which pose a threat to both Israel and Latin American nations.

Following the meeting with Milei, Netanyahu also met with the presidents of Panama, Paraguay, and Bolivia. He encouraged these leaders to join the Abraham Accords initiative and the U.S. initiative to withdraw from the International Criminal Court, which he described as "corrupt." Netanyahu emphasized the importance of Latin American countries as partners in the fight against terrorism.
