Maccabi Haifa is accelerating its bid to sign Huddersfield defender Radinio Balker, who was first reported as a target by Channel 5 Sport. The club wants to complete the move quickly so he can join training as soon as possible.
Balker and his wife were in Israel last week, where they toured Kfar Galim, Sammy Ofer Stadium and the city of Haifa. Haifa expects to pay transfer fees of about €300,000 for the 26-year-old, who has one more year left on his contract.
Balker is a Suriname international who has also played in the Dutch top flight. Haifa is seeking a foreign center back after Abdulai Seka left, ending a four-season run as the anchor of its defense.
