Suspect in News Outlet Vandalism Ordered to House Arrest
A Tel Aviv court has ordered the release of Avraham Hadi, suspected of smashing doors at news organizations, to house arrest with electronic monitoring until the end of legal proceedings. The court stated that his dangerousness could be mitigated, a decision made two months after his arrest for allegedly breaking the entrance door to the Channel 12 news building in Tel Aviv.
The prosecution opposed the release, citing that the probation service did not recommend this alternative and expressing doubts about its suitability and the feasibility of electronic monitoring. However, the judge ruled that the proposed supervision and conditions could sufficiently reduce the risk.
To allow the prosecution time to appeal, the implementation of the decision is delayed until Friday. Hadi's attorney, Eran Amarani, stated that the judges made a professional decision after extensive hearings and data review, deeming it appropriate for the circumstances. He also noted the court's reminder that detention is not an advance on punishment.
