Israel Airport Authority to Increase Passenger Fees Starting 2027
Travelers departing from Israel's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) can expect higher costs starting in 2027, as the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) updates its passenger fees. The annual adjustment, mandated by regulations, accounts for changes in the consumer price index and the dollar exchange rate. For departures from Terminal 3, the fee will rise to $37.68 in 2027, an increase of $3.81 from the 2026 rate of $33.87, representing an approximately 11% jump.
Passengers using Terminal 1 will also see an increase, with the fee climbing to $17.36 in 2027, up from $15.61 in 2026, a rise of $1.75 per passenger. These fees are not paid directly by travelers but are charged to airlines for each departing passenger. However, airlines may pass on some or all of this increased cost to consumers through higher ticket prices.
The IAA clarified that the fee increases, particularly the dollar-denominated amounts, are not due to a decision to raise fees beyond the established mechanism. The fees are set in Israeli shekels and adjusted annually according to regulations. The 2027 update reflects a 1.54% rise in the consumer price index. The difference between the index increase and the dollar fee hike is attributed to currency exchange rate fluctuations; a weaker dollar necessitates a higher dollar amount to maintain the equivalent shekel value after indexation.
The IAA emphasized that no additional changes beyond the regulatory adjustment have been made. The updated fees are scheduled for official publication by October 1, 2026, and will take effect in 2027.
