Drone Footage Contradicts Claims of Settler Siege on Palestinian Village
Claims circulated in recent hours alleging that 'hilltop youth' activists were laying siege to homes in the Palestinian village of Qusra. However, drone footage captured on Tuesday afternoon appears to show the houses empty of any Israeli presence. Instead, the footage revealed journalists who had arrived at the scene to document the purported event.
The drone footage, which was distributed without attribution, shows a house in Qusra without people around it. This contradicts earlier reports and images that claimed to show "pictures from inside the houses besieged by settlers in Qusra." The specific house featured in the drone footage was seen flying an American flag, and no individuals were visible in its vicinity.
Journalists were present at the location to cover the alleged incident, as seen in the drone footage. Israel Gantz, head of the Binyamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, stated that the drone footage refutes the earlier claims. "This is exactly how a blood libel is manufactured against the settlement enterprise: spreading a lie about 'settlers besieging a home,' summoning cameras and journalists, and then the documentation from the field reveals that there is no one there," Gantz said.
He further asserted, "There is no siege and no settlers, there is a timed fabrication designed to create images and headlines against the State of Israel. These lies quickly become headlines around the world, international actors fall into the trap, and the entire State of Israel pays the price. This time, the cameras caught the lie in real time."
