IDF Brig. Gen. Sivan Bloch Assumes Command of Bashan Division

Brigadier General Sivan Bloch, a resident of the Hasmonean settlement and a graduate of the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Nachalim, officially took command of the IDF's Bashan Division (210) on Wednesday. He succeeds Brigadier General Yair Palai, who held the position for the past two years and will now pursue further studies.

The change of command ceremony took place at Camp Nafach and was presided over by Major General Rafi Milo, the commander of the Northern Command. Other senior officers in attendance included Major General Yaniv Asor, commander of the Southern Command, Major General Rasana Alian, head of the Syria Directorate, and Shin Bet chief David Zini.

In his inaugural address, Bloch expressed his profound excitement, stating, "The Bashan Division embodies the story of the IDF and Israeli society." He emphasized the division's role in protecting the Golan Heights and the State of Israel, pledging to ensure the security of the residents of the Golan and Northern Israel so they can "live, grow, and develop here in security." He committed to achieving this through partnership, responsibility, and full dedication.

Bloch also addressed his predecessor, Palai, calling him a "friend and mentor" and an "exceptional commander" who led the division through a challenging period marked by unprecedented realities over the last few decades. He acknowledged Palai's significant achievements during his tenure.

Concluding his remarks, Bloch thanked Major General Milo for his trust and pledged to act with determination and devotion to fulfill all the division's missions. He also extended gratitude to the soldiers and commanders, both active duty and reserve, for their past and future contributions.
