New Commander Takes Charge of IDF Infantry Command School Amid Ongoing Conflict

Colonel A. has assumed command of the IDF Infantry Command School, replacing Colonel S., who served in the role for the past two years and will now lead the Bashan Division. The change of command ceremony took place at Camp Tzur, led by Ground Forces Commander Major General Nadav Lotan and attended by military leaders, soldiers, and family members.

Brigadier General Sharon Altit, commander of Division 38 and head of the Ground Forces Operations Branch, highlighted the school’s critical role in training thousands of infantry squad commanders over the last two years. He noted that the unit actively fought on October 7 in areas including Kerem Shalom, Kissufim, Be'eri, and Zikim, and continues to engage in combat operations in Gaza and Lebanon. Altit praised the outgoing commander as a combat leader with high standards and expressed confidence in the new commander’s ability to lead the school to further achievements for the IDF and Israel.

Colonel S. described his tenure as a significant and fulfilling chapter, emphasizing the school’s contribution to preparing the next generation of infantry and ground forces commanders. He expressed confidence in Colonel A.’s leadership and the school’s continued growth. Upon taking command, Colonel A. acknowledged the challenging period facing Israel and the IDF, committing to strengthening the school’s readiness, developing future commanders, and ensuring professional and ethical leadership at the front lines. He also thanked his predecessor for his leadership and accomplishments.
