IDF Central Command Chief: Operational Plans Approved, Ready for Scenarios

The IDF's Central Command recently conducted an operational learning conference and a war game as part of its emergency preparedness efforts. The command's commander, Major General Avi Blout, stated that the forces are operating with a "war today" mindset, not a "war tomorrow" one. The activities focused on integrating lessons learned from various combat zones and enhancing troop readiness.

The learning conference incorporated insights from the Lebanon campaign and the Northern Command's operations. Senior commanders attended, including the commander of the 98th Division, Brigadier General Meni Liberty, former commander Brigadier General Guy Levy, and commanders of the Givati, Commando, and Paratrooper brigades, both active and reserve duty. The discussions reviewed operational insights from different fronts, specifically highlighting the battle in Bint Jbeil by the 98th Division forces, as well as operations in the Litani River area and the Beaufort region.

Concurrently, a war game led by the Central Command chief involved dozens of active and reserve commanders practicing extreme scenarios. Participants were organized into divisions to explore strategies for various situations. The exercise also examined cooperation with other security agencies operating in the area, including the Shin Bet, Border Police, and the Judea and Samaria District of the Israel Police.

Major General Blout emphasized that the command possesses approved operational plans that have been practiced multiple times, incorporating lessons from the October 7th attacks. He described the command's operational approach as offensive and proactive, aiming to resolve issues in enemy territory while they are still minor. Blout also noted that the command's units are deployed in the north, center, and south to ensure civilian life continues, while learning and drawing lessons from all combat arenas.
