Israeli Man Arrested for ATM Skimming Scheme Targeting 40 Victims
Tel Aviv District fraud investigators have arrested a 57-year-old man suspected of stealing from approximately 40 individuals by using skimming devices at Bank Leumi ATMs. The suspect, a resident of Bat Yam, allegedly installed card readers and pinhole cameras on ATMs in Tel Aviv, Holon, and Bat Yam. Victims unknowingly had their magnetic card data and PIN codes copied when using the machines. The perpetrator then created cloned cards and withdrew funds, causing a total loss exceeding 120,000 shekels. Police, in cooperation with Bank Leumi, identified the suspect and, during a search of his home, discovered multiple cards and skimming equipment. He has been interrogated and is currently detained pending further investigation, with the approval of a magistrate's court.
