Repeat Offender Arrested After String of 22 Store Thefts in Tel Aviv

Police in Tel Aviv have arrested a man in his 50s suspected of carrying out a systematic spree of 22 thefts from businesses across the city over recent months. The suspect, a resident of Jaffa, allegedly filled bags with large quantities of food, beverages, and other products from various stores and left without paying. In some instances, he reportedly attempted to flee even after being confronted by store employees.

The investigation began following a series of theft reports from different businesses. Detectives from the Lev Tel Aviv station were able to link the suspect to 22 separate incidents, with the total value of the stolen goods amounting to thousands of shekels. The suspect was apprehended earlier this week, and his detention was subsequently extended.

On Thursday, the Tel Aviv District Police prosecution unit filed a serious indictment against him, containing 22 counts of theft and attempted theft. Prosecutors also requested that he be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
