Man Arrested at Sea of Galilee Beach for Threatening Swimmers with Axe
Police arrested a 43-year-old resident of Hadera on Tuesday at a beach on the Sea of Galilee, suspected of threatening swimmers with an axe. Officers located the suspect hiding among bushes near the shore after receiving a report that he had brandished the weapon and threatened beachgoers.
According to the police statement, the complainants told officers who arrived at the scene that the suspect threatened to harm them and even stated he would kill them. Police began searching the area and first found the tent where the suspect was staying. After the axe and knives were discovered in the tent, searches continued along the beach and its surroundings until the man was found and apprehended.
The axe and knives were seized for further investigation. The suspect's detention has been extended until Friday.
