Arab Man Chases Jewish Bystander with Axe in Jerusalem's Old City
In recent days, an Arab resident of Jerusalem's Old City chased a Jewish passerby while threatening him with an axe. The incident occurred shortly after the assailant had been involved in an altercation with other Jews. The targeted individual was not part of the initial dispute and managed to escape unharmed. Attorney Chaim Bleicher from the legal organization Honenu has called on the police to arrest the attacker immediately. In a letter to the police, Bleicher described how his client left his home on Khaldiya Street 30 and heard shouting from a nearby scuffle. Suddenly, the client saw the Arab man running toward him wildly, wielding an axe and attempting to physically harm him. Fortunately, the victim fled the scene without injury. Bleicher emphasized the severity of the attack, noting that the suspect remains free despite the danger he poses. The axe was found at the entrance to the victim's home. Bleicher questioned why the suspect has not been detained and warned that allowing him to roam freely risks further attacks. He urged the authorities to arrest and prosecute the attacker to the fullest extent of the law.
