Following the ceasefire in Lebanon and a drop in tensions on the northern front, the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command announced Sunday evening that it is removing all restrictions in border communities and several additional Upper Galilee towns. According to an IDF spokesman, the decision was made after a situational assessment and a review of recent security developments along the northern border.
Starting at 06:00 on Monday, June 22, 2026, the affected localities will be moved to a full activity level with no restrictions. The towns named in the announcement are Sifsufa, Meron, Or HaGanuz, Bar Yohai, Yesud HaMa'ala, Kisra-Sumei, Beit Jann and Sde Eliezer.
Until now, these communities had been operating under a partial activity regime that limited gatherings and educational and public activity. The new policy means a complete return to routine life, including educational, public and community events without special Home Front Command restrictions.
The command said residents should continue to follow official instructions and stay alert for updates. “If there are changes in the defense policy, the public will be updated through the official platforms of the Home Front Command and the IDF Spokesperson,” the military said. The move comes one day after the Lebanon ceasefire took effect and is another step toward normalcy for northern residents who have faced security restrictions and constant preparedness for possible escalation.
