Ofir Wagman Appointed Director-General of Israel Basketball Association

The Israel Basketball Association announced on September 24, 2026, the appointment of Ofir Wagman as its new Director-General. Wagman, 54, currently serves as the Director of the Sports Authority for the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and brings over 25 years of extensive experience in sports management across all levels, from youth to professional athletes.

Throughout his career, Wagman has managed numerous sports events, including a role as deputy director of the Tel Aviv Sports Authority during the EuroBasket 2017 hosting in Israel. He has led and managed other significant sports events and was elected to his current municipal position in 2021.

Amos Frishman, Chairman of the Basketball Association, expressed confidence in Wagman's appointment, stating, "Ofir Wagman has been involved in sports management for many years, and I have no doubt he is the right person in the right place. Ofir managed all sports in the Tel Aviv municipality with a strong hand, and he has great passion for basketball." Frishman thanked the association's board members and wished Wagman success in advancing the organization.

Wagman shared his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, "I come to this position with great love for basketball, which has accompanied me since my childhood, and with many years of management experience in the world of sports. It is a privilege and responsibility for me to connect the love for the sport with the experience I have gained in managing and promoting sports, and to work together with all parties in the field to strengthen the association, promote Israeli basketball, and build a foundation that will allow it to continue to grow and develop over the years."
