Ofir Vagman Appointed Director-General of Israel Basketball Association

The Israel Basketball Association announced on Tuesday the appointment of Ofir Vagman as its new Director-General. Vagman, 54, currently serves as the Director of the Sports Authority for the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and brings over 25 years of experience in sports management across all levels, from youth to professional athletes.

Throughout his career, Vagman has managed numerous sporting events. He was involved in hosting EuroBasket in Israel in 2017 as the Deputy Director of the Tel Aviv Sports Authority and has led other major sporting events. He was elected to his current role in 2021.

Amos Frishman, Chairman of the Basketball Association, expressed confidence in Vagman's appointment, stating, "Ofir Vagman has been involved in sports management for many years, and I have no doubt he is the right person in the right place. Ofir managed all sports in the Tel Aviv Municipality with a strong hand, and he has great passion for the sport of basketball." Frishman thanked the association's board members and wished Vagman success in advancing the organization.

Vagman stated, "I come to this role with great love for basketball, which has accompanied me since childhood, and with many years of management experience in the world of sports. It is a privilege and responsibility for me to connect the love for the sport with the experience I have gained in managing and promoting sports, and to work together with all parties in the field to strengthen the association, promote Israeli basketball, and build a foundation that will allow it to continue to grow and develop over the years."
