Young Man Electrocuted During Sukkah Construction in Bnei Brak

A 21-year-old man was electrocuted in Bnei Brak on Wednesday night after accidentally touching an exposed electrical wire while helping to build a sukkah on Rechov 600. Medics from United Hatzalah provided initial treatment at the scene before he was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

According to United Hatzalah medics Chaim Yisrael Katz, Shmulik Lustig, and Shai Fisher, the young man touched the live wire during the sukkah's construction. They administered first aid, including bandaging, before his transfer for further medical care.

This incident follows a series of injuries related to sukkah construction in recent days. On Wednesday, a 60-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in Bnei Brak after falling from a chair while building a sukkah. The previous day, a one-year-old baby was moderately injured in Bnei Brak when a wooden board fell on her from a height of approximately 2.5 meters during sukkah preparations.

In response to the rise in accidents, United Hatzalah is urging the public to adhere to safety precautions during sukkah construction and holiday preparations, stating that caution can prevent unnecessary tragedies. The Israel Land Authority has also launched an initiative across the country to prevent the illegal construction of balconies, structures, and additions ahead of the Sukkot holiday, warning that such unauthorized building not only violates the law but also endangers lives.
